A BER is an energy efficiency rating for your home. On the BER label homes are rated on a scale of A-G with A-rated homes being the most energy efficient and G-rated homes the least efficient. As of the 1st of January 2009 it is compulsory for all homes being sold or rented to possess a BER certificate. You are entitled to a BER if you are buying or renting a new house or apartment - so do ask the seller/landlord or their agent for it.
